Fire Department Training Day Photographs

I had the opportunity to be able to photograph North Oakland County Fire Authority's (NOCFA) Fire Department Training Day at a location that had previous fire damage. The entire picture catalog is at:  http://www.karenkishphotography.com/nocfa_trainingday

Learning how to react in live fire settings is part of fireman training that can involve problem solving under extreme stress, but it is an essential skill for those considering a fireman career. Many people  might not realize there is more involved than knowing how to work a large hose to put out a fire. In fact, many of the emergency management techniques that a fireman must have can involve the scientific properties of combustion and hazardous materials, chemicals, diesel fuel or explosives.

Hats off to these brave men and women! I was several feet behind them as I was shooting, and the intense heat felt like it would blister my arms, I could not image spending hours wearing and wrestling with all their heavy and bulky equipment, while performing risky and organized maneuvers.
